This is a wonderful Buddhist development center, mainly in the Theravada tradition which focuses on insight meditation (Vipassana). The people are friendly and welcoming, and the meditation sessions are singular. A most welcome presence in the mid-Missouri area, this is the only Theravada tradition center of it's kind here. They are inclusive, welcoming those from other Buddhist traditions as well as those interested in learning meditation techniques and practices. Highly recommended.
This is a great place and one of the best things about Jefferson City, other than Capital Arts and the excellent writer and speaker Jim Boer who is a local resident. The teachers are above average and have deep knowledge and first-hand experience in walking the path. Many Buddhist centers are little more than window dressing which house monks who neither have training or knowledge. Or commercial enterprises hiding as churches. The VBC in Jefferson City is the read deal. Everyone should go.
